…pray without ceasing…
First Thessalonians 5:17
Praying is one of the basic practices of being a Christian. Along with bible study, praying to the Lord is how we discern the Lord’s presence among us and His will. When we make time for prayer, we begin to place ourselves under the direction of Jesus, who calls us to be His disciples and to follow wherever He leads us. To not pray is to miss a close relationship with the Lord and to not avail ourselves to the voice of Jesus who is speaking to us. Currently at Friendship Community Church, there is a desire among some members to create a prayer ministry. Although we have not yet finalized ideas for deepening our prayer life as a church, we have some ideas. We have discussed setting up a prayer box so that people who come to FCC can write down their prayer requests and know that a team of people is praying for them throughout the week. We have reestablished a Prayer Tablet in the entranceway of our building so that people can write down prayer requests to be used during our time of worship. We’ve also discussed possibilities such as a Prayer Chain made up of members who would like to pray for people, a day set aside for Prayer and Fasting, a 24-hour Prayer Vigil, a Prayer Breakfast, and a weekly Prayer service with music and spontaneous/routine prayers open to the community with a special prayer focus every week. Prayer is so important to the life of a church that each of us at FCC needs to consider praying for one another and our congregation as a whole. If you would like to be a part of this special ministry, please let us know. Pat Goebel, Delores Sivers and Linda Mitchell would be glad to hear!
